๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’œ Blueberry Lavender Playdough๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒฟ

Cleaning out the freezer the other day right down the back I found a bag of (very๐Ÿ™ˆ) expired frozen blueberries!

Instead of throwing them away I'd heard that blueberries make a pretty purple nature dye and you don't even need many blueberries to make the dye at all (although ours was a huge bag full) ๐Ÿ™ˆ

We decided to make playdough and use the dye for this and here js the outcome of our blueberry dye this pretty purple playdough - we added some lavender too which made it a nice calming activity for Lil ๐Ÿ’œ

What we used

๐Ÿ’œ Bag of expired frozen blueberries
๐Ÿ’œ old pot (the natural dyes can stain)
๐Ÿ’œ Strainer
๐Ÿ’œ Lavender

๐ŸŒฟ Playdough Recipe ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒฟ 2 cups of Flour
๐ŸŒฟ 1 cup of water (we used our dye for the water part)
๐ŸŒฟ 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
๐ŸŒฟ 1 Cup of Salt

As always if you dough is too dry add more water and too wet add more flour but it should have that buttery soft playdough feel easy for little fingers to push into, you can always add more oil to get the softness just right!

Pour your bag of blueberries into a small saucepan we added just enough water to almost cover them, remembering that being frozen they will have excess water too (the more water you have the duller the color of the dye) so we probably filled the saucepan a quarter full with water and storing regularly to prevent the blueberries from sticking to the pot ๐Ÿ‘Œ

We had our blueberries boiling on high for 15 minutes until the water reached our desired color, strained the water to get rid of any blueberry skins and add to your playdough mix ๐Ÿ’œ

At the end we also added the dried lavender chopped up to our playdough and that's it ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒฟ
